Dentures Pembroke Pines, FL
If you have lost some or all of your teeth, you may need dentures to replace those teeth. Modern dentures still function like their older counterparts, but they are much more comfortable and easier to place in your mouth. Here at Everglades Family Dental, we often work with patients to create dentures that are comfortable to wear and nearly indistinguishable from natural teeth.
Denture Basics
Before dental implants, dentures were one of the only ways of replacing lost teeth. These artificial teeth can replace a single missing tooth, several missing teeth in a row, or all of your teeth. Whether you need partial dentures or full dentures, replacing your teeth will help you chew and speak better. You will also feel more confident and smile more. If you have a number of healthy teeth, we may suggest partial dentures. We do try to avoid extracting healthy teeth whenever possible. On the other hand, if you have lost most of your teeth or if most of them need to be extracted, it may be better to go with full dentures. Sometimes, this is the best option even if we do have to remove several healthy teeth.
Should You Get Dentures?
Why should you get dentures? There are a few reasons why. If you have lost many teeth, it can be difficult to eat. At times, it may even be painful. You may also find that you have issues speaking. Of course, you may also be embarrassed by your missing teeth. It is also likely that any natural teeth you do have will begin moving out of place because they do not have support. This can eventually cause you to lose those teeth, too.
What Happens During an Appointment to Get Dentures?
Prior to getting dentures, you will likely come in several times. The first appointment will be the initial exam and consultation. Here, we will determine which teeth need replacement and if you need to have any extractions. Those will be done and you will have time to heal up before you can start wearing your permanent dentures. However, we may take impressions of your mouth first. While you are healing, your dentures will be manufactured based on these impressions and other measurements. Once you have healed and we have your dentures ready, you come in for your fitting. We want to make certain that you are comfortable taking your dentures in and out and that they fit perfectly. If they do not, we can adjust them. In rare situations, we may have to have a new set made. We will also talk to you about how to care for dentures and to answer any questions you may have.
Are Dentures the Right Solution for You?
If you are missing teeth and are not a good candidate for implants, dentures may be the right solution for you. Some people may actually prefer them to getting implants. We can talk to you about your dental options and determine if you need a partial or full set of dentures. Call Everglades Family Dental today at (754) 764-0465 to set up your consultation. |
